NegOr as the best island to live in

THE recent survey conducted by Island Magazine revealed that Negros Oriental, including of course Dumaguete being its capital city, is among the top 20 best islands to live in.
Perfectly elating!
After experiencing a series of petty crimes, scandals, and dysfunctional government officials, here comes a magazine acknowledging the island as among the best.
What made Negros Island competitive and tough among others?
According to the survey, the climate, languages spoken, and accessibility to the hospital are among the factors considered. In the same survey, the tranquil Rizal Boulevard and the seaside promenade with cafes and art gallery are among the landmarks cited.
Much has been said about the "City of Gentle People" vis-à-vis Negros Oriental as the province. Today, the province houses about eight Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies that bring about expats. To date, it has also the most number of foreign nationals living within the province.
I don't think we will focus in the Boulevard alone; we need to mention the Marine Conservation park in Dauin, Marine Sanctuary in Antulang, Siaton, dolphin-watching in Bais, various caves serving as natural parks, rivers, and other natural landmarks contributing to this attraction.
The major impact cited was the climate, which, if I may analyze, would surely include the human traffic aside from nature.
Our natural climate is highly remarkable reason why we are compared with the Grand Cayman, Gozo in Malta, Carriacou in Grenada and Vieques in Puerto Rico. Evidently, everybody can see a manifold number-a visible number in fact, of foreign nationals plying around the city.
Our social climate is also good, having recorded the least number of crimes and unresolved crimes today. No wonder PGMA herself declared the city of Dumaguete and the entire Negros Oriental as the most peaceful in the Philippines.
There is just one thing we need to maintain - the beauty of the Boulevard and its promenade and the gentleness of the people. When these factors don't live anymore, the "name tag" that we have now will cease to be remembered. Consequently, it will cease to live in the hearts of the tourists.
Keep it up, NegOr!
